LeShan on the River

This is the side of the large figure of the Sitting Buddha at the meeting of three main rivers in China. The Buddha was said to have been built because of the massive amounts of floods that plagued the area centuries ago. Since finishing the Buddha, the water has never once rose over his feet. This is the side of the mountain where steps are carved in to almost meet the river face and walk before the Buddha. I was on a boat when this photo was taken.
